Joining CSPD

The band is always looking for new members to join us.

The CSPD will teach you how to play the great highland bagpipe for free. All you need is motivation and a practice chanter (purchasable from the CSPD if you don't already have one). Call Wendy Holmes at (303) 430-1442 for more information about these lessons.

In addition many of our members give private lessons: Ben Holmes (303-430-1442), Chet Choszczyk (303-333-8456), Gordon Stewart (303-922-l843).

The band rehearses every Tuesday from 7:00 pm to about 9:30 at the Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church, 9180 W 38 Av, Wheat Ridge, Colorado (map).

To become a kilted member of the band, you must learn the six parade sets and pass an audition.

Membership dues in the CSPD are $25 per year. This entitles the member to copies of the music and a vote at the general meetings. The kilt and jacket are provided by the band.

"There is somthing in the rhythm, in the long drawn notes, in the soul singing out... which in some queer magic way, stirs the blood of a man, whoever he may be, and stiffens the slackening fibre of his heart, and takes him out of the rut of his earth to some higher plane of thought, and gives him courage."

--Philip Gibbs, quoted in Pipes of War by Sir Burce Seton and PM John grant
